CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

J.J. Koch joined Bellinger & DeWolf, L.L.P. because of the firm's exceptional reputation in the field of litigation. J.J. was first introduced to the firm while in law school, when the firm's founding partner, Steve DeWolf, delivered an energetic and inspiring guest lecture to his Advanced Torts class and made a lasting impression on J.J.  After spending a brief amount of time as a solo practitioner handling criminal matters in Dallas and the surrounding counties, J.J. was given an opportunity to work for the team at Bellinger & DeWolf, LLP and learn from one of the very litigators that inspired his ambitions to enter the litigation realm.

Right after law school, J. J. was among many newly licensed attorneys who joined the Small Business Administration Disaster Assistance Office in Fort Worth, Texas during the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  Working directly with disaster victims to get home and business loans approved was pivotal in learning the skills necessary to efficiently help people during a disastrous time in their lives.

Following his tenure at the SBA, J. J. joined the Dallas County District Attorney's Office, where he honed his negotiation and trial skills.  The Dallas D. A.' s office provided J. J. with invaluable experience in the courtroom, in both trying cases and speaking to potential jurors on a weekly basis.

J. J. has worked extensively with police officers in venues outside the prosecutor's office. He gained his initial experience and appreciation for officers when working as intern to the NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Trials, the department's division that deals with officer and civilian employee discipline.  J. J. continued in this area of practice while in law school as an intern with Lyon, Gorsky, Haring and Gilbert, LLP, where he assisted on cases for the Dallas Police Association.

During his tenure with Bellinger & DeWolf, L.L.P., J. J. has handled a number of cases for the Dallas Fraternal Order of Police and has been committed to serving police as well as other public employees.  J. J. has continued a criminal defense practice, representing individuals accused of committing misdemeanor and felony offenses.  J. J. has acted as second chair in a number of civil litigation matters with the team at Bellinger & DeWolf, L.L.P., as well as handling civil litigation matters as a first chair attorney.
